Lumitree mind map of world cuisines, dark mode

Built for thinking fast.

A focused set of tools, all keyboard-first, all native.

AI that starts you off

Type a topic, pick a shape — brainstorm, plan, compare, study, SWOT — and get a structured map in seconds. Expand any branch with one click. Chat with your map to refine it.

Branches that look hand-drawn

Tapered organic edges that thicken toward the root, like real tree branches. Bend any curve. Reroute endpoints. Your map looks like thinking, not a flowchart.

Five layouts, one shortcut

Radial, horizontal tree, vertical tree, left/right balanced, org chart. Switch with the command palette — your structure is preserved, only the geometry changes.

Cross-links between ideas

Hold Shift and drag from one topic to another to draw a relationship — dashed, labelled, separate from the parent-child tree. Because real ideas are graphs, not just trees.

Present without exporting

Hit ⇧⌘P to enter presentation mode. Step through your map one branch at a time, with smooth zoom transitions. Pitch directly from the canvas — no slides to build.

Keyboard-first

Tab to add a child, Return for a sibling, Space to edit, ⌘K for the command palette, ⌘Z for anything. Arrow keys move spatially. Your hands stay on the keys.

Bring your own key

Use Apple Intelligence for free, or plug in OpenAI or Claude with your own API key. You pay the model provider directly — nothing goes through us.

Your files, your disk

Maps save as plain files on your Mac. Auto-save, full undo, import from OPML / Markdown / FreeMind, export to PNG, PDF, SVG, OPML, Markdown. No accounts, no lock-in.

Native and tiny

Under 3 MB. Written in Swift and SwiftUI. Launches instantly, runs cool, feels like a Mac app because it is one. Apple Silicon native.

Free in early access.

No account. No card. No trial timer. Just download and use it.

Questions, answered.

Do I need an AI API key to use it?

No. On macOS with Apple Intelligence, generation is free and on-device. If you want OpenAI or Claude, you plug in your own key — Lumitree calls them directly from your Mac. We don't proxy anything.

Where are my maps stored?

Wherever you save them — the same way TextEdit or Pages saves a document. Plain files on your disk. No account, no cloud, no sync service.

Will it stay free?

Lumitree is free during v0.x early access. When v1.0 ships, it becomes a one-time purchase (no subscription, ever). The first 500 early-access users get v1.0 free forever as a thank-you. Everyone else who used v0.x before launch day gets v1.0 at half price — still no subscription. Whatever version you downloaded keeps working on your Mac indefinitely, regardless.

Does it run on Intel Macs?

Not right now. Lumitree is Apple Silicon only (M1 and newer). If there's enough interest, we'll revisit.

How do updates work?

Lumitree checks for updates on launch and installs them in-place when you approve. Signed, notarized, and delivered via Sparkle.

How can I help?

Use it, break it, and tell us what's wrong. Early access is for finding the rough edges — bug reports and feature ideas from real users are worth more to us right now than money. Email hello@lumitree.app with anything you find.
